Welcome to Montréal and the Université de Montreal
Welcome to Montréal!
Université de Montréal is located on Indigenous territory that has never been ceded by treaty. We acknowledge and honour those who have cared for this land since time immemorial, and we express our respect for the contributions of Indigenous peoples to cultures here and around the world.
Montréal is a vibrant, bilingual city known for its arts and festival scene, its neighbourhood cafés and its food. With its European feel and its mountain in the middle of the island, it’s an ideal backdrop for CAIS2027. We invite you to explore the city during your stay.
Be sure to visit:
- Mount Royal (Mont-Royal): Walk up for views over the city, just north of downtown.
- Old Montréal (Vieux-Montréal): Cobblestone streets, historic architecture and the Old Port.
- Jean-Talon Market: One of the city’s best-loved markets, good for lunch and local products.
Université de Montréal
Our event is hosted by the École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l’information (EBSI) at Université de Montréal, on its Mont-Royal campus. Founded in 1878 as a Montréal branch of Université Laval, UdeM is one of Canada’s leading francophone universities. Together with its affiliated schools, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal, it is a major hub of higher education in Québec.

Getting to the Venue
By métro: The campus is served by the Université-de-Montréal station on the Blue Line (Line 5). The station’s Université de Montréal entrance opens onto a tunnel leading to the university’s main pavilion.
From the airport: Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) is about 20–30 minutes from campus by car or taxi. By public transit, the 747 bus route runs to Lionel-Groulx metro station in about 30–35 minutes. From Lionel-Groulx, take the Orange Line (Line 2) toward Côte-Vertu, then transfer to the Blue Line (Line 5) at Snowdon toward Saint-Michel. The 747 fare is $11.25 and works as a 24-hour pass for bus, métro and REM in Zone A. Please check STM.info for current schedules and routes.
